Oh, The Oscars…

So I was sucked in to reading some “news” stories this morning. You know the ones with the curious titles that have you finger on the key trying to decide if it’s worth the click? Anyway, the first was a photo of some orange American Flags that said something along the lines of (guess why the attendees of the Oscar’s are wearing orange flag pins). Well, I just had to know…

I’ll tell you why, in protest of gun violence, that’s why. Not as bad as I was expecting so that’s a good thing. At least it wasn’t gun “control”. Honestly, I’m tired of hearing about “gun control”, “gun violence” I can wrap my head around but this “control” crap is out of hand. Criminals don’t follow laws, so you can make laws to control guns until you’re blue in the face but that’s not going to stop a (criminal, killer, gangster, robber, drug dealer, etc…) from getting their hands on illegal guns.

Sorry, I got too deep into that subject for a minute. The next article I read was title something along the lines of (LAPD will have over 500 officers on hand working overtime to ensure the safety of the attendees). That’s great! Over 500 officers plus a private security company, closing nearly a mile of Hollywood Blvd. These “ARMED” officers will start in the middle of the event and trickle outward to keep an eye on the event from all angles.

I’m happy that these Hollywood stars have the luxury of attending their award show with the peace of mind that they are safe because they have an army of gun-toting officers and security guards to keep them safe. This is obviously a sign that they realize the main protection for yourself and others from the evil and badness in this world is a good guy or gal with a weapon. It’s common sense, right?

Wouldn’t it be nice if schools had a small fraction of this security? Aren’t America’s children worthy of the same or better protection? Sometimes things going on in Hollywood strikes me as being pretty much hypocritical. Not saying they don’t deserve security, I’m saying we ALL deserve security. We deserve to feel safe in our homes. We deserve to feel safe in our community and to be perfectly honest I feel much safer when I have a weapon on me or near me.

I hope Hollywood has a wonderful night at The Oscars. I hope everyone is safe. Most of all I hope the attendees remember that they’re there to celebrate their and their peers accomplishments and not make it about bashing our President, politics, or pushing agendas. Enjoy your successes and maybe while you’re on stage making your acceptance speeches, give a shout out to those armed officers who are putting their lives in harm’s way to protect you.
